Our approach to making a backglass involves a process we creatged ocver the years working with these classic machine backglasses that were made decades ago using silk-screening on glass.

 

The original artwork in these classic pins are not flat images and cannot be replaced by one. The artwork is detailed, with a drawn look and they were designed to function with the game and the back box lights.

 

They are bright and pop in some areas, hold the score boxes and credits and also had graphics that appeared and disappeared in play with the lights and game function.

 

The challenge we face today is how to recreate those effects without the silk screen and lead paint of the era and utilizing today's technology with thinner inks.

 

We have found that our customer's spend a great deal of time and money on their pins and want them to be as original as possible. Theirs and our goal is to have a backglass that looks like "stock" functions as intended with ourt the chipping and peeling, granulation, hot spots, missing graphics or dull color and artwork. We also found that a lot of people prefer it to be on glass like they always have been. 

Our method involves multiple layers of artwork and reverse printing in layers as well. To preserve the art detail, sharp lines, and bright colors our expert graphic artist, Karen Thornberg recreates the artwork from scratch.

 

We have solved the industry problem of missing graphics, hot  spots, washed out colors, mismatched elements and non functioning or missinmg graphics with our process. The fact that we recreate the backglass has alos changed the industry in its demand for rare and hard to find backglasses, we can make any backglass out there, or even one of your own design, Nothing is impossible to get anymore, as we also specialize it providing "one-offs" instead of having to do a run of 25 backglasses.

 

Our printing process utilizes a state of the art UV  printer capable of oblique colors and printing in layers which accomppishes something really specisl. A backglass that looks like "stock"

 

There is secrets to our process that we keep behind the curtain but there is one we need to be upfront about, even though nobody would know unlesds you told them.

Our backglasses are not printed on glass, they are printed on a high quality polycarbonate that looks just like glass except it wont break and it virtually last forever.

We have had many pin repair and restoration specialist tell us that when they installed the backglass, they could not tell it was not glass. They have fooled thier restoration staff when asked to point out the glass original  versus ours. It has the same glossy look as glass and looks like the original when installed.

This is not a short cut, our material actually cost more then glass does. The printing process we utilize is expensive and each backglass when recrreated for the first time takes our artist 20 to 40 hours to create.

The end result is what we focus on and that is what we have to offer. A backglass that is engineered for light, customizable, exceptional craftsmanship and quality that look like "stock" and comes packaged with our special touch to your door in a reasonable amount of time.
